MOSCOW, Feb 1 (PRIME) -- Hungary may plug into Russia’s new gas routes via pipelines Nord Stream and Turkish Stream, presidential aide Yury Ushakov told reporters on Wednesday ahead of President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Hungary.
“It is not ruled out that in the future, the Hungarian partners will be able to connect to the projects worked on by Gazprom, new fuel supply routes through Nord Stream and Turkish Stream,” Ushakov said.
The European Commission is putting barriers to a large Russian–Hungarian project, the Paks nuclear power plant, he said. “Many things depend on position of the European Commission now, which, in general, is constantly looking for faults, hinders the implementation of the project, already virtually agreed upon between the Russian and the Hungarian sides.”
According to Ushakov, the discussion of a 126.5 million euro debt of Hungarian airline Malev to Vnesheconombank (VEB) will be on the agenda of the visit. Hungary earlier offered an out-of-court settlement of the case and this option will most probably be discussed in the presence of the countries’ leaders, he said.
Ushakov also said that Russia and Hungary will sign a cooperation program for 2017–2022 during Putin’s visit.
